This Charming Band-err Man..?.

So I mentioned in an earlier post about my attending the Smiths/Morrissey Convention.  I went with an old friend and didn't end up wearing my new Lydia Dress. I instead wore Peasant Top in Red from Pinup Girl Clothing, which I scored at the Mary Blair Launch Party (at 15% off Yay!) and my High Waisted Cropped Trousers in Black along with my Yoda Vans. All in all it was fun. Great music, obviously, overpriced beer and VEGAN food!
This Charming Band made their first ever appearance at this year's convention and Sons and Heirs played again. I had to leave early, so I missed most of Sons and Heirs' set, but I really enjoyed THis ?Charming Band.
Little did I know, of course, what exactly a tribute band actually is.
From Dictionary.com:
1. a group that plays the songs of a band they admire, often dressing in the style of the original band members. Contemporary definitions for tribute band Expand. noun. a musical group that imitates a former band or performer that was highly popular; a band that performs the music of a famous band.

From UrbanDictionary.com
A couple of musicians looking to make some extra money by taking songs from an already famous band. Usually the fore-mentioned band no longer performs and therefore it is a tribute. Although some of the most well liked tribute bands, do in fact do tribute to a band that is still in existence and performing.

So there's the two definitions, in case you weren't aware, and having seen them I can't help but put in my two, or three, cents here.
Ohh, and if you haven't seen or heard either band, here:

This is This Charming Band the entire show they did for the convention. I watched this video, I had balcony seats and literally could not see anything.

The Sons and Heirs Live.
Enjoy.

I enjoyed This Charming Band, the lead singer whose name I don't know sounds an awful lot like Morrissey; emphasis on the word Awful.
No he didn't suck at singing, and the band is a SMITHS tribute band, not a MORRISSEY tribute band, the difference is vital.
They play the songs that Morrissey wouldn't play live, and I know cause I've seen him.
That's whats refreshing about them: they'll play your favorite fucking Smiths song, and they will do their best to sound like "the real deal". PLus the girl on guitar fucking KILLED IT. I hope the video includes the bands individual intros, cause she played "How Soon is Now?" which is nearly impossible to play, even Marr  struggles with the original sound of the recorded version on certain live albums. Seriously I love her.
I couldn't help but feel a little odd though. To me, this show seemed like the show you would go see if the original artist no longer played and yes it is true that The Smiths are OVER :,(
But you can still see Morrissey, in fact I'm seeing him in San Jose in July.
So if I had to the choice between A) seeing a tribute band, or two, for like $25 (actual ticket cost of the convention) or B) Seeing the lead singer of said expired band, who still totally rocks, for maybe $50-$70 more? (Last May my tickets for "okay" seats were $60 including tax; this year they were $75 or so each, I bought two.)
To put it bluntly, it was kind of lame that these singers were trying soooo hard to look and sound like Moz. Yes, good for them if they can pull it off seamlessly, but leave it to the Original. Please.
Hope you enjoyed my useless rant.
