Patchwork Heart: Style Inspiration

PATCHES:

Yes, people I am jumping on the bandwagon and do a style inspiration post about patches.
I was recently shopping on Etsy when I stumbled across You Were Swell. I love love love this Etsy account, all of Sophie McMahan's patches and t-shirts are super adorable.
I bought these two:

And I'm going back for more, I'm currently contemplating the Alien Elvis and, of course, Vampira.
There are so so many cool options for patch collectors on Etsy, and Ebay too, although Ebay tends to be cheaper, Etsy has some really great shops like Awesome Wares and Psycho Swami.

So I don't know about you guys, but I loved patches as a kid. In elementary school, my mom would buy me a patch from Hot Topic for every good grade.
I usually got classic band patches or creepy looking cats and dolls.
Well, as you've probably figured by now, I'm not too too into what's "trendy" and I much prefer to stick with what I like and what looks good on me.
Now, chances are if your friends are like my friends i.e. not fashion savvy, they will tell you that patches are outdated.
And to that I say, Boo!
Don't believe that patches on jackets and jeans and backpacks are making a comeback?
Check out some of these really cool people and patches that look really cool.
Really cool.

Foe me, patches are very nostalgic.
I found quite a few awesome vintage ones on Etsy and Ebay and they all have a cool meaning for me.
I got one from the seventies that says "Love a Nurse" my mom was a nurse and my best friend is currently in nursing school.
I got another one that just says "Tennessee," which is where my grandfather is from.
I got a cat woman patch and one says "America" with a picture of the woods, which is col cause I recently traveled to Europe and plan on going to graduate school abroad, so America, even with all it's flaws is still home.
I also got a funny little one that says "Bitch Bitch Bitch" with a mouth and tongue Rolling Stones style.
One also says Aster September, which is the month's flower, and my birthday is in September so yeah, pretty cool.

I used to write on my jeans a lot when I was a kid, just fav band names of fav poems and song lyrics.

It's really not hard to find some great inspo, and tools.
Places like Etsy, Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal and Asos all have cool 90's style jeans and denim jackets.
I'm going to put the majority of my patches on a basic backpack for school lazy days when I'm in gym clothes and a purse is too much, ya know?
