Spotlight on: Dorothy Lamour

So I haven't done a spotlight feature since I started it as a weekly thing a few months ago.  Sorry.
I wanted to do this one on the lovely Dorothy Lamour.
Dorothy was born December 19th, just like my little sister Sarah, 1914, and died September 22 in '96.
She was an American Actress and Singer, working in films such as "Road to..." "The Jungle Rpincess and  "The Hurricane."

Dorothy started as a big band singer in the 1930's until she moved to Hollywood in 1936 to sign with Paramount Pictures.
She was known as the "Sarong Queen" for her tantalizing role of "Ulah" in "The Jungle Princess."
In the 1970's, Dorothy released her autobiography "My Side of The Road", find it here
Lamour was born in New Orleans of French Louisianan, Spanish and Irish descent.
Dorothy quite school at 14 and worked as a secretary to support her and her mother.
She was crowned Miss New Orleans in 1931 and used the money to support herself while she worked in a stock theatre company.
Dorothy also gained success after moving to Chicago and finding work as a singer and vaudeville star and led her to work in radio on the NBC weekly musical program, as well as the popular Rudy Vallee radio show, "The Chase and Sanborn Hour."
Dorothy Lamour led a very interesting and inspiring life, to read all about her on her wiki page, click here. And for more reading, click the link above to purchase her autobiography.
