How To: Fake A Smart and Well Thought Out Outfit...Not Really.(SPRING/SUMMER)

IN HONOR OF SOON TO EMERGING AGAIN SPRING/SUMMER STYLES:
p.s. (don't hate me for this post; I live in Cali, so it's pretty much always hot)
If anyone has come to master the art of looking pulled together, when they've really just pulled a bunch of shit on and ran out of the house in order to escape tardiness (again and again), it's me. I've had this conversation with a dear friend of mine, Jonathan, whom I affectionately refer to as Bunns, due to his lack there of. We complain that we want to look "cool" and effortless at school. Well put together and savvy, but we also want to be comfortable. My solution is to buy "everyday" comfy items in bright colors, or all black, and fun prints and in strategic fabrics. Take for example: I enjoy a high waisted pant and a crop top. I also loathe jeans. Solution: High waisted "harem-ish" pants done in a rayon-cotton blend in cool prints like polka dot leopard and abstract, but nothing too bold. And cotton or rayon crop tops for no more than $10 at Forever 21 Target H&M Nasty Gal etc...
The trick is also choosing simple pairs, or none at all. The romper/jumpsuit is the Lazy Fashionista's (I hate that word too but bare with me) BFF: Best Fucking Friend. So are dresses, long or short, you throw one on, some Birkenstock's and drapey cardigan, because your summer classes pump air conditioning like crazy and you end up freezing your ass off, or forgo the cardigan and enjoy some summer sun. You are Set. Here's some inspiration I've rustled up, and some blogs worthy of their Fame. These girls pair simple silhouettes and dreamy pajama-ish shorts and tops so well it's nearly painful. Remember: Overalls, dresses and Jumpsuits, one and you're done.

Another great way to look pulled together with very little effort? The Twosie. Or whatever, that's what Asos is calling. It's on trend (though I could give two fucks about trends) but also very versatile and easy to rock. This Red Twosie in particular is wicked cute, transitional and available at Asos.com.

Remember when I said bonus points if it looks like Pajamas? Love This!

Another great way to look super pulled together: stick to one color. All white, all black, all blue you get the idea. It will come off looking very sophisticated, like in the 50's when girls' shoes matched their sweater sets and pencil skirts. And don't worry if the colors don't pair up in the exact same hue: Variety is the spice of life. Also anything that looks like pajamas is a plus. Yes, we want to look like we didn't just wake up fifteen minutes ago, but the key is looking classy and being comfy. Mind you: I've never been a "Simple Dresser" like Fashion Toast and We Wore What Blogger. I like prints and drama and crazy silhouettes and layers upon layers upon layers.
This post if for those of us who need to look pulled together in a flash.
